General Hospital stunned fans twice last week when its decades-long mafia kingpins, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), decided they were leaving their life of crime behind and going legit. After 33 years of Sonny in the mob and 30 years of Jason as his right-hand man, those decisions sent shockwaves through the fandom, as the 63-year-old ABC soap is about to undergo a seismic shift, one that Maurice Benard looks forward to.

While many fans have celebrated the change, others have wondered if GH will grow stale and boring with the mob not taking up so much of the plot. Could Sonny and Jason actually become…ordinary? Whatever Sonny does, Benard assures fans that Justine (Nazneen Contractor) will remain a part of his life. “I just had some fun great scenes with her later,” he wrote, giving yet another tease for what’s ahead.
