Easy No-Bake German Chocolate Pie: A Quick Dessert for Holidays and Gatherings

This no-bake dessert brings together a smooth chocolate filling and a rich coconut and pecan topping, without ever turning on the oven. It is the kind of sweet that works well when time is short but a celebration still calls for something special, and it can be made ahead so the host is not rushed on the day.

The base starts with a ready-made graham cracker crust, filled with a chocolate pudding mixture made from instant pudding, cold milk and whipped topping. Once the filling is smooth and even, it goes into the fridge to chill while the topping is prepared, which keeps the layers neat when the pie is sliced.

The topping is what gives this pie its classic character. Shredded coconut and chopped pecans are mixed with sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, vanilla and a pinch of salt, then spread evenly over the chilled chocolate layer. The result is sweet, nutty and textured, in contrast to the soft filling underneath.

The pie needs at least four hours in the fridge, and overnight is even better, so it sets firmly enough to slice cleanly. Serve it chilled, with extra pecans or shaved chocolate on top if desired, for birthdays, holiday tables, potlucks or a simple weeknight treat.
