An 8-year-old boy from Illinois is showing the world that kindness has no age limits. Wyatt Erber, a third-grader from Edwardsville, won $1,000 in a summer-long neighborhood scavenger hunt sponsored by a local bank. Instead of keeping the prize, Wyatt decided to donate all the money to his 2-year-old neighbor, Cara, who was undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia.
Wyatt’s mother, Noelle Erber, helped him collect the clues throughout the scavenger hunt. But it was Wyatt’s heart that truly made the difference. When asked about the donation, Cara’s mother, Trisha Kielty, said, “He said: ‘How much chemo will $1,000 buy Cara?’ I’m completely floored by him. To step up and donate his winnings … is crazy.”
This touching act of generosity went beyond just helping financially. It brought hope, love, and encouragement to Cara and her family during a difficult time. Wyatt’s selfless decision highlights the power of compassion, even from someone so young, and reminds us that acts of kindness can have a lasting impact on others’ lives.
Wyatt’s story continues to inspire people everywhere, proving that even small gestures can make a big difference in the world.
