A strange wooden object sitting at a yard sale caught my attention because I couldn’t immediately figure out what it was. So despite its unusual appearance today, the object had an extremely practical purpose: it is a vintage washboard used for washing clothes by hand. What now looks like a mysterious yard-sale discovery was once an ordinary piece of household equipment found in countless homes.
